Before class:
- Fill in the sign-up form if you would like to volunteer for the follow-up interview on collaboration and earn a late pass.
- Check your grade for Genius Hour Post #2. (If you got 2 points, it means you need to include links to the most important resources you have referred to.)
Designing learning activities:
You have identified some learning objectives (you may refine them accordingly as your ideas evolve). You also have some basic ideas about what kind of projects can be created by Scratch. Now think about the main learning activity you will create for your CT project and how that can be supported by Scratch. We'll talk about step-by-step teaching procedures later.
Discuss with your partner how your learning activity can represent the principles of Meaningful Learning. You may not address all of them in one lesson, but you should consider a few of them:
Intentional (Goal-Directed/Regulatory): Learning activity needs to be aligned with the learning objectives.
Active (Manipulative/Observant): Learning activity should be able to engage students in learning.
Authentic : Learning tasks are situated in some meaningful real-world task or simulated in some case-based or problem-based learning environment.
Cooperative (Collaborative/Conversational): Learning activity should promote interaction and collaboration among students.
Constructive (Articulative/ Reflective): Learning activity support students to construct their own mental model of new concepts and articulate their understanding.
