A lot of what we learn this semester is based on the ideas presented in Chapter One Meaningful Learning with Technology, so it’s really important to get a solid foundation on the information included in it.
In order for students to learn meaningfully, they must be willfully engaged in a meaningful task.
The graphic to the right is a visual reminder of some of the main topics from this chapter. I’d like for you to spend some time looking for examples of each of the 5 characteristics so that you can share them during class next week.
If you think about the 7 ISTE standards as the goals we want students to achieve, then the Meaningful Learning principles show the means to get there. The Universal Design for Learning framework we are going to discuss next class is more about the specific how-to strategies.
Today we’ll spend some time reviewing what we’ve read about ISTE standards and Meaningful learning with a Kahoot game.

HOMEWORK (DUE Wednesday, Jan 22nd, before class)
1. Look for examples of each of the 5 characteristics of meaningful learning with or without technology from what you experience from now on. Be ready to share them during class next week.
2. Sign up for the Tool Commercial Project and start to explore the tool of your choice. I'll provide more details about the project later.
3. I you haven't finished reading the UDL Chart and Universal design for learning. (see the homework in the previous daily agenda), make sure you read them in preparation of a few class activities next week.
