I have seen some cool Maker Project ideas from some of you. For those who might be struggling what they might want to do for this project, this is to provided more clarifications and previous examples.
1. What to make and what tools to use:
First of all exploring the maker tools , and think of a project you’d like to do with one (or more) of the tools: design a comic strip, create a short piece of music, make a green screen video, write a piece of code using Tynker, etc. Take this as opportunity to learn another tool of your interest.
Examples: (I hope these will give you some inspirations. Don't let them limit your imagination and creativity).

Other more personal projects: A student made a video recording how she met and fell in love with her boyfriend; another student made an amazing photo collage of aspects of her life...
2. How to access it:
It's really difficult to access creativity. To make it fair and equitable for everyone, my expectation is that you’ll choose a project that will take 3 to 4 hours to complete (assuming you’re not a perfectionist). There are some tools that can create something looking cool with just a click of button; this is NOT what you are expected to do. What I want to see is that you are actually spending time and making efforts to make something new and interesting to you.
The project will account for 6% of the grade; the reflection is 3% and the project update on Flipgrid is 1%.
3. How to add your project to your portfolio:
Build your project – then, link it / add a screenshot / whatever makes sense for your project to your "Maker Project" page on your portfolio site. You already know how to insert a text box or image to Google sites.
But if you project is an audio or video:
If you have an YouTube account, upload video to YouTube and get a shareable link (View this tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Go_HDCANWf8). Then embed that link to your "Maker project" page on your Google Sites (insert -- embed -- paste URL -- insert)
OR you can upload your file to your Google Drive, and add it to your website the same way you would add a Google Doc (Insert -- from Google Drive -- choose the file -- insert). And remember to share the file as "view by anyone". This method applies to any format of files you stored in Google Drive.
If the tool you use can create a link to your project (like Powtoon and Sctratch):
Embed that link to your "Maker project" page on your Google Sites (insert -- embed -- paste URL -- insert)
4. What to write in the reflection:
Write a 500-800 word reflection and insert it to your "Maker Project" page. If your reflection:
Describe your making process: How did you get the project idea? What tool did you used to create it? How did you make it? Did you come across any difficulties? How did you overcome them? How did you feel during the whole process, ect...
Discuss how experiences like this might support K-12 student learning: How does this activity relate to readings on creativity and maker education? It’s never a bad idea to quote readings – especially if you decide to include references to previous week’s readings (this is a great place to talk about meaningful learning with technology or UDL.) You can find the link to all the core readings in the menu bar "Readings".
5. Due dates:
1. Your project and reflection is Due on Monday, Feb 10th, before class.
2. Maker project update on Flipgrid is due by Friday, Feb 7th, at 11:59 pm. Go here to record your video: https://flipgrid.com/7db97028. If you’re using the FlipGrid app, use the code: 7db97028.
IMPORTANT: Don’t forget to publish the changes. Be sure to set your Google files (if you are using them) as "anyone can view".
