An unplugged example: Creating a monster
Questions about the Remix projects?
You will have two remix projects, counting towards your grade. These are to be done outside of class, but I leave time for you to ask questions in class and share a little bit with each other. The purpose is to give everyone the opportunity to get familiar with Scratch before working on the group projects.
Computational Thinking group project:
Sign up for the group project with one or two other students. You will have in-class time to collaborate with you groups to create a Scratch project integrating K-12 curriculum.
Talk with your group about what topic you might want to work on. Take a few minutes to look at Georgia Performance Standards to get some ideas.
Think about two scenarios: (1) You are a teacher and you want to Create a Scratch project to teach your students a certain topic. (2) You are a teacher and you want your students to create a Scratch project to demonstrate what they have learnt about a certain topic you are teaching, assuming students already know some basic coding skills. Be mindful about the age level of your students.
Your scratch project can take any forms (games, stories, quizzes, etc), depending on your topic and the purpose. Whatever form it is, it should be a complete self-contained project without bugs.
Homework: (Due on Friday, Feb 21st)
Option 1: If you are totally new to Scratch, rewatch the CS50 Computational thinking and Scratch video (starting from 32:00) and follow the instructions to recreate the Scratch coding.
Option 2: If you already know the basics but not quite comfortable using it, try remixing one of the starter projects.
Option 3: If you are an advanced Scratch user, explore some of the more complex projects and remix one of them.
Important Note: Choose one of the options as your assignment, depending on your familiarity with Scratch. Whichever option you choose, this will be a graded assignment, worth 2 points. When you finish this individual remix practice, share your project to our studio EDIT2000_Yang (Class A). When you are sharing it, remember to Indicate your name in the title, and make notes about the changes your have made (see screenshot below).
(Your second remix should be chosen from option 2 & 3)
