08/21 Meaningful Learning

Before class:

- Sign your name on the sign-in sheet to make sure your attendance is recorded.

1. Tools survey

We’ll start off class looking at the results from the Tools survey – this will inform a majority of the content for our course this semester:

Then we’ll participate in a little Kahoot! review of ISTE standards and the Meaningful Learning with Technology chapter. A lot of what we learn this semester is based on the ideas presented in this chapter, so it’s really important to get a solid foundation on the information included in it.

The graphic to the left is a visual reminder of some of the main topics from our reading. I’d like for you to spend some time this week looking for examples of each of the 5 characteristics so that you can share them during Friday’s class.

HOMEWORK (due Friday, August 23):

  1. Using your Meaningful Learning pentagon – identify the kinds of meaningful learning you experience between now and the next class. We'll share these in class.

  2. Read Preparing 21st Century Students for a Global Society(Publication). (2011). Washington, DC: NEA.
