2. Data Literacy Project peer review
Here is the Project Instructions Document.
You are expected to have finished a draft before class. Today we'll take some time to provide peer review. Group 1 give feedback to Group2. Group 2 give feedback to Group 3.... Group 5 give feedback to Group 1. Give comments and suggestions directly on their Google Doc. Think about these questions when you review their document:
Are their learning objectives clear?
Are their learning activities aligned with their objectives?
Can the technological tools they select support the learning activities effectively?
- Think critically about the feedback from peer groups. What changes should you make based on their comments and suggestions? Or you might think it's better to keep as it is, then what is the reason?
- Continue to work on your project. Click the "Ask for help" button in the breakout room if you need help from me.

3. Intro to Video Production Project
As most instruction is happening online during this special period of time, video-based learning has become a popular and important strategy of instruction. We may expect that videos will continue to be an essential part of education, formal (such as recorded lectures) or informal (such as YouTube tutorials). Therefore, learning some basics about video production is necessary for future teachers.
Imagine that your first video for a class that you are going to teach is probably an introduction to what the course is about. Since you have finished your Data Literacy Project, you already have something to start with your Video Production Project. You'll create a 3-minute video to introduce your course to students who might be interested in registering your course. Think about how to express these aspects creatively in your video: What is your course about? Who is it for? Why is it important for them? What will they be doing in this course? What will they learn from this course?
A Slack channel #videoproduction is created for this project. Please feel free to ask any questions, or share tips and tricks you have.
Timeline:
11-06: Read through the project instructions document and schedule meeting time with your group members to discuss the project plan. It’s important to make clear your goals and each person’s responsibilities from the very beginning.
11-09: Collected needed video elements. (You’ll have about 30 mins in class to work on the project with your group)
11-11: Continue to work with your group members.
11-15: Project due by midnight.
HOMEWORK
1. Due Thursday, Nov 5th: The finalized Data Literacy syllabus should be published to your portfolio.
2. Due Thursday, Nov 5th: Your third post of Genius Hour Project .
3. Start to work on the Video Production Project. At least have some video elements ready so that you have something to work on in class Next Tuesday, Nov 10th.
